We invite you to spend a few moments browsing the Pedagogic Center's services and facilities. Explore together with us the best in Jewish Education, discover its trends, help shape its future.

Major Vectors

The Pedagogic Center is a specialist unit within the Department for Jewish Education, JAFI. It offers professional support and development services to the Department's educational divisions and geographical desks, as well as to Jewish educators and lay leaders world-wide in both formal and informal education:

  • Training
  • Resourcing
  • Consultation
  • Production.

We cover resources in formal and informal Jewish education, with a particular emphasis on materials for youth, students, adults and the educators themselves - especially in the areas of:

  • Israel & Zionism
  • Current Events
  • Jewish and Israel Calendar
  • Jewish life and values.

Internet Educational Support

This is an inter-unit project coordinated by the Pedagogic Center. It aims to enhance Jewish education worldwide by creating hands-on services which are equally accessible to Jewish educators at the center and the periphery of the Jewish world, making priority and quality educational materials available on the Internet.

Internet Advantages:

  • Curricular enhancement:
All the materials appear in an applied form - as checklists, lesson plans, programming ideas, complete with their own source materials.
  • A structured Israel-Diaspora service:
The materials reach their destination via the website. Individuals or agencies interested can also join discussion and professional Forums, evaluate and exchange resources.
  • Current Issues:
Our ongoing Current Issues production for Internet offers a valuable, real-time response to Jewish educational needs world-wide.
  • Real-time consultation services:
Shlichim, schools, students, youth organizations, and the broader public obtain real-time answers from our helpdesk. On-site resources, educational guidance and library search services are available to any inquirer from any agency and location via e-mail, fax and airmail.

Curricular Agenda Online

Major and Annual Themes

A focused curricular aid for the special programs in the annual theme, with hands-on programming tools and materials for the educator. Sections of the website have been translated into Hebrew, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, German and Russian.

Intranet Initiatives

The Center has engaged in the process of developing and providing Intranet facilities for affiliated and partnership groups, in order to offer an improved platform for communication, discussion and didactic purposes.

Virtual Zionist Congress Forums - VRV

A dynamic worldwide dialogue targeted to involve both formal and informal educational frameworks in Israel and the Diaspora in professionally moderated, in-depth, grass-roots discussion on major issues of the Jewish-Israel agenda, packaged into tracks of structured activities with online interchange and an online plenary debate.

This sector of operations is fast becoming an expression of Jewish electronic citizenship and is moving into a new series of online events, using the Virtual-Real-Virtual (VRV) encounter formula.

Observatory of Jewish Education Resources on the Internet

A new venture in Jewish internet, this project is designed to map, link and analyze Jewish educational resourcing available in the global network as initiatives and models of best practice. It includes a harvest search facility, acts as a communication forum for practitioner-users and provides a network of specialists with guidance to visitors and support for the project's development.

DataJEM

DataJEM is an annotated bibliography of Jewish educational materials to help you identify appropriate materials for your needs. The new DataJEM is now accessible on-line, with extensive and continual updates to offer vastly improved resource information to Jewish educators wherever they may be. Educators and education agencies are also invited to contribute resources for review.
