Jewish Sports on Trial
Pierre Gildesgame Maccabi Sports Museum, Kfar Maccabiah, Ramat Gan
Purpose: This mock trial explores the provocative question: Are Jewish sports good for the Jews or bad for the Jews? Have they helped forge the image of a new, strong, independant Jew? Or have they simply contributed to assimilation and emphasized Hellenistic frivolity over serious commintment to Jewish learning and values?
Process: the trial makes creative use of the exhibits and memorabilia at the Museum and provides a stimulating and enjoyable way to explore this important aspect of contemporary Jewish identity.
Implementors: Program is conducted by informal education experts from melitz Centers for Jewish Zionist Education.
Target group: Junior high school through college students.
