Art in the Desert - WUJS Institute Arad
Purpose: This module is designed to enable participants to gain a
familiarity with the Negev region, to experience its desert
landscape through the medium of art, while simultaneously
increasing their knowledge of Israel; its people, its past and its
future.
Process: Art is used as a means of tackling extremely difficult
material. Music, movement, studying texts and painting with
natural colors, combine with hikes and low-keyed nature
encounters, to help participants grapple with complex questions of
Jewish identity. As part of the process, the participant also
gains an understanding of life in the Negev.
