Kibbutz Yahel Seminar Center, "Ma'ayan B'Midbar"
Purpose: Get an insider's view of a unique
society combining kibbutz ideals with Reform Judaism. What is a reform
kibbutz? How is kibbutz important in Israel today? Why do people settle
on kibbutz? Experience kibbutz life first hand and gain clear
understanding of purpose of kibbutz, past and present.
Process: Hands on tour of kibbutz - pick melons,
milk cows, inspect irrigation systems, visit children's house.
Understand kibbutz decision-making process by holding general meeting
and searching together for solutions. Apply reform concepts to everyday
dilemmas. Learn kibbutz history through simulation activities. Meet
kibbutz members, question them on kibbutz life.
Implementors: Members of Kibbutz Yahel with
extensive experience working with youth and youth movements. Seminar
leaders are trained in group dynamics and chosen for their leadership
qualities.
Target Group: Short or long term groups, high
school through university
No. of Participants: Minimum - 15; larger groups
are broken down into a number of smaller groups.
Duration of Activity: From a half day to four
days, catered to your group's needs.
Location of Activity: The Seminar Center at
Kibbutz Yahel, "Ma'ayan B'Midbar".
Aids and Materials: Depending on seminar length
and subjects covered.
