Coexistence: A Cinematic View of the Israel-Arab Conflict

Purpose: Cinema reflects significant issues, such
as coexistence, human rights, democracy, freedom of thought, speech and
belief. Observe and question not only subject matter, but also
ourselves and our attitudes as viewers - misconceptions, prejudices.
Visual material challenges us to reflect upon past history, present
trends and future possibilities.
Process: Lecture, combined with screening of film
clips - documentary and feature - followed by discussion with lecturer.
Session may end with screening of relevant full-length feature. Films
are selected from extensive collection of Israel Film Archive and
include some of the best cinematic efforts of Arab and Israeli
filmmakers. Structure may be altered according to need.

Target group: High school and college students,
age 16 and up.

Duration of Activity: 2-4 hours.
