The Carmel Institute for

Purpose: Comprehend the multi-cultural nature of Israeli society and the extent of polarization between the various sectors, primarily: Jews and Arabs, secular and religious, old-timers and newcomers.
Process: Study research data and other relevant information. Audio-visual presentations. Field trips - meet with groups of Jews and Arabs, yeshiva students, ulpan students, etc. Summarize findings through small group discussions and panels with experts.
Implementors: Social and behavioral scientists engaged in
research, writing and analyses of relevant issues.
- Target group: Age 14 and up.
- No. of Participants: 15-40.
- Duration of activity: 3 days.
- Location of activity: Carmel Institute, Zikhron Ya'akov.
- Aids and materials: Personal folders containing research
data,
reports, relevant articles, etc.
- Special requirements: Preferably individuals who have
previously
visited Israel; however, the module can be adapted to "first
timers".
