Pierre Gildesgame Maccabi Sports Museum
Purpose: Use the world of sports, a familiar and vital part of
our lives, to help participants understand Jewish values.
Process: An integrated, thematic tour of the museum and its
exhibits, tailored to the needs of each group. The tour also
features audio-visual presentations, creative workshops and
sports on the magnificent grounds of Maccabi Village.
Background:
The Pierre Gildesgame Maccabi Sports Museum is located in Kfar
Maccabiah, Ramat Gan. The museum was established in 1981 in order
to document and display the historic role of the Maccabi World
Union Movement within Jewish sport.
Since its establishment the Museum has provided educational
programs exposing Jewish youth to their heritage and introducing
all visitors to the history of Jewish sport.
Didactic method: Workshops and Games, Exhibitions, Audio-Visual
Presentations
Implementors: Museum educators with background in the Maccabi
Youth Movement
Target group: Jewish Diaspora youth aged 10 to Bar Mitzva.
Number of participants: 15-20 per sub-group.
Duration of activity: 1 1/2 - 3 hours, depending on age group.
Location of activity: Pierre Gildesgame Maccabi sports museum -
Maccabi village, Ramat Gan.
