The Eilat Experience
El - Artzi, Center for Touring and Learning, Eilat
Purpose: Teach Jewish values and love for Eretz Yisrael throug
enjoyable activities. Jewish youth from Israel and abroad can
explore the desert, an area that played a vital role in early
Jewish history, discover the southern port of King Solomon and
enjoy the sun and all that Eilat has to offer.
Process: Tours and field trips - group members will take part in
a 3 - 5 day combined program featuring hikes in the mountains and
wadis (canyons) in the area, visits to archaeological sites and
Eilat's special attractions: sea sports, camel tours, diving,
rappelling, jeep tours, bedouin tents, etc.
Implementors: Religious guides who have completed their army
service, usually graduates of hesder yeshivot (special yeshivot
that combine study with military service).
Project coordinator: Based in Eilat, El Artzi has offere
stimulating guided tours to youth and adult groups from Israel and
abroad since 1989. It is recognized by the Ministry of Education
and Culture as an educational and instructional institution.
Target group: Youth and adults. The module is fitted to the
various age groups.
Number of participants: Minimum - 15; Maximum - 150.
Duration of activity: 3 - 5 days.
Location of activity: Eilat, The Eilat Mountains Nature Reserve
and the Arava.
Aids and materials: Maps, hiking equipment, sea equipment, Jewish
values work sheets.
Special requirements: None.
Additional Modules
Shabbat in Eilat
Participants may spend a study Shabbat in Eilat
where they will learn about the spiritual aspects of the desert
according to the Torah and the Prophets.
Red Sea Sports
Discover a new world at the undersea museum, snorkle
in Eilat's famous coral gardens and exotic tropical marine life.
Take a preliminary diving course. We also offer sailboating,
kayaking, banana boating and, a yacht ride along Israel's three
international borders. This can be ordered as a separate module
or in addition to the primary module combining sea and desert.
