Givat Haviva Seminar - Overseas Programming Department
Purpose:
Further understanding of Jewish - Arab coexistence in
Israel by meeting Israeli Arab citizens and getting to know them.
Process:
One day program including introduction to Givat Haviva
through video and discussion; workshop actively involving
participants in discovering who the Israeli Arabs are; lunch;
small discussion groups with coexistence activists; field trip -
visit in an Arab village and home hospitality; supper and cultural
sharing with Israeli Arab hosts.
Implementors:
Alyne Bat Haim - cross cultural advisor and
psychotherapist, graduate of Smith College, Yale University and
California Family Study Center; Riad Kabha - educational
coordinator, mukhtar of the arab village of Barta'a, graduate of
University of Tel Aviv.

Department has been hosting groups since the early seventies.
Alyne Bat Haim, a specialist in cross cultural communication, has
been working in the area of coexistence since 1984. She leads
workshops and groups throughout Israel and works with an
international clientele in her private psychotherapy practice.
Target group: High school students, university students, adults.
No. of Participants: 15-60.
Duration of activity: Minimum - 4 hours; Maximum - 1 week.
Location of activity: Givat Haviva and neighboring Israeli Arab
villages.
Aids and materials: Relevant reading material and maps.
Special requirements: Openness to and interest in learning about
Israel's largest non-Jewish minority.
