MEETS - ENCOUNTERS
Melitz - Centers for Jewish Zionist Education

  • Purpose:

    Enable Diaspora Jews and Israelis to get to know one another on a personal and meaningful basis through an educational program.

  • Process:

    The Mifgashim program consists of a 5-day camp in which the Diaspora participants and Israeli counterparts live together and take part in an enjoyable and stimulating program of workshops, games, study, shows, sports, tours and field trips. At the close of the "camp", Israelis host the Diaspora guests for Shabbat.

  • Implementors:

    Melitz staff augmented by artists, sports specialists and tour guides.

  • Target Group: Visiting Diaspora groups and individual Israelis (who are recruited by Melitz).

  • No. of Participants: 20 - 150 in each session (Diaspora only).

  • Duration of Activity: 5 days + home hospitality.

  • Location of Activity: Centers and sites that are especially appropriate for the program.

  • Aids and Materials: None.

  • Special Requirements: None.
