Judaism and its Many Faces
Samson Camp - A Summer Experience on Kibbutz Tzora
Purpose: Provide the setting and the means for
participants to discover that Judaism exists outside of their home
communities. Draw comparisons between various Jewish communities and
help youths realize that despite different origins - Judaism binds us
all together.
Process: Summer camp program offers an in-depth
look at the participants' home communities and includes a comprehensive
survey of the unique Ethiopian Jewish society. Discussions will be held
on similarities and differences in culture, religion, language and
history. Having discovered the "many faces of Judaism", participants
will be able to compare the various communities.
Implementors: The staff and counselors consist of
trained and experienced youth leaders from Israel and abroad.
Target Group: Youth from America, Europe and
Israel, between the ages of 12-15.
No. of Participants: 80-120.
Duration of Activity: One month and/or two weeks.
Location of Activity: Kibbutz Tzora.
Activities during camp: Educational activities, workshops and trips around the country.
Aids and Materials: Each participants will
receive a file, enclosed will be the necessary information, booklets and
pictures for the activity.
Special Requirements: Relevant information about
their community including personal anecdotes, facts and figures.
