The United Nations' Emergency Flash Appeal for Southeast Asia
In addition to all of the medical help, supplies, and logistics being
provided by Israeli organizations, Israel has already committed an additional
$100,000 in cash towards the United Nations' Emergency Flash Appeal.
This figure was reported by Ms. Elizabeth Byrs, the head of the Advocacy
& Public Information Section of the UN's Office for the Coordination
of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) located in Geneva, Switzerland. She added
that this figure is not final, and also does not take into account the
cost of all of the supplies and personnel Israel has already sent or
will be sending in the future.
There is currently no list by country available at this time, but Ms.
Byrs mentioned that so far, 722 million dollars had been pledged out
of a goal of 977 million dollars for the Flash Appeal. Ms. Byers did
not have an exact figure of how many countries had pledged so far, but
she said that the figure is no more than 70.
